Many people ask how other twitter users can have so many updates a day. Do they have nothing else to do, only tweeting.

In my article”Combine twitter, friendfeed, twitterfeed and RSS” I described how to bring your blog or webpage articles automatically in twitter. Today I will show how to automatically retweet articles.

Retweet followers

First you need to define from which follower you want to re tweet the tweets. Use a follower who doesn’t tweet to much private stuff. Ok in this example we wanna re tweet the tweets of NBA.

First you need a fresh friendfeed account and you should have an twitterfeed account.

So login to twitter and find the page of your selected follower.

Down right you can find the RSS feed of your follower.

Use your right button of your mouse and “copy the link location”. Open your friendfeed account and go to the friendfeed services page. Select “blog”

Paste the copied link into the app.

Now you have the RSS Feed in friendfeed.

OK next step we need to bring friendfeed back to twitter.

On your friendfeed page you have also the possibility to copy with right mouse button the Link Location of your friendfeed RSS feed.

Now go to your twitterfeed account and setup a new feed like here

OK that’s it. After a while twitterfeed should start sending the friendfeed rss feed to twitter. see here

Oh you will ask ” Why the turn over friendfeed” here the answer

Now you will re tweet the last 5 tweets from your follower every 30 minutes.

Maybe you don’t want to re tweet from a follower. You want to retweet by content.

retweet from a twitter search

Re tweet from a search works similar to the retweet of a follower. The one difference is that you don need to make the turn over friendfeed. Maybe after this article twitter will change it but than you can do it over friendfeed too.

OK, go to your twitter account and do a search. Here in the example itś “social media”

Save the search and copy with your right mouse button the link location from the RSS feed again.

Now you can go directly to twitterfeed. And setup the feed re tweet.

That’s it. A small advice don’t use a rarely used term in your search cause in the next updated your will re tweet your own re tweet. You built a loop. From one re tweet to the next re tweet their must be more than 5 new results in the search.

Here the retweet result

AND ONLY RE TWEET INTERESTING THINGS FOR YOUR FOLLOWERS AND NOT TOO MUCH CAUSE OTHERWISE IT’S SPAM

Today I tried the new search engine bing.com beta from Microsoft. Something really special happened. Since my tries I don’t know who I am anymore. First I searched for one of my best buddies, his name is Boris Wollny and see what bing.com sent me as the picture result.

Ok now you think you found Boris Wollny. You are not right. See the result for me “Markus Eberius”

So if you wouldn’t know me you could think I am Boris Wollny.

I tried the same questions at google and see

Boris Wollny is not Markus Eberius

It was confusing me but now I know that I am Markus again. THX google.

In my opinion it’s not the right strategy for Microsoft to setup the next search engine which is working like google. google and yahoo is working fine so the world doesn’t need one more. Since years Microsoft tries to find a way to position them self in the internet but they can’t find one. They should offer good web based applications based on their normal applications like office. Out of this services they could build new services and find their place in the web world.
And by the way, why they always start with beta versions you can laugh about or be angry after 5 minutes working on it.

For sure Wolfram Alpha used the better way. A unique kind of knowledge base which will find their place specially in the science world.

Since today digg doesn’t allow shouting anymore. What was a “shout” ? If you submitted an article or you find a good article at digg you could share this article with your friends. For sharing the article you sent a “shout” to them. If you wanted to communicate with one of your friends you could sent him a “shout” (message).

Now you nearly have no possibility to communicate with your friends directly over digg. I don’t know why digg stopped this and I think this will make digg a little more uninteresting. The most people have not the time to read all the articles at digg to find the real interesting articles. So it was a big advantage if some of your friends who has nearly the same interests send you a recommendation.

Instead of shouting, digg has two new functions. You can share your articles directly over facebook and twitter. But that makes no sense cause the most people share their articles over the other social media channels anyway.

Maybe many user of digg will change to propeller or mixx or similar news portals.

I hope digg will allow shouting again otherwise I ĺl decide the next days what Iĺl do.

Since last day/night Wolfram Alpha is alive. The big question about Wolfram Alpha was if this engine can outclass google. This morning I made my own first experiences with Wolfram Alpha. My first impression is that google and Wolfram Alpha are completely different. The following article will show my first attempts and the results.

After my first three questions to Wolfram Alpha I was totally disappointed about Wolfram Alpha. Sure I handled Wolfram Alpha like google and I believe everybody will do that by the first try. So my first question was

“cheapest mp3 player”

here the answer of Wolfram Alpha

here the answer of google

Ok no result at Wolfram Alpha. Maybe I tried the wrong question so I asked

“buy cheap mp3 player”

The result of Wolfram Alpha

The result of google

Ok I was absolutley bemused. No answers at all from Wolfram Alpha. ..Good next try

“highest mountain of the world”

Answer of Wolfram Alpha

Answer of google

Still no answer. I was thinking “maybe the Wolfram Alpha engine is not running”. Ok for the next try took an easier expression and hoped that will work.

“California squirrel”

Here the answer of Wolfram Alpha

The answer of google

After this attempts it was clear that Wolfram Alpha is not a search engine like google and it will compete so far with the standard kind of search engines.

But what is Wolfram Alpha for? For the next attempts I tried a more scientifical basic approach.

easy question “20+40″

The answer of Wolfram Alpha

The answer of google

Wow an answer from Wolfram Alpha and this one is even with google. Ok it was an easy question. So I tried another mathimatical question.

“integral e”

Answer of Wolfram Alpha

Answer of google

And now we had the first question which was answered by Wolfram Alpha with much more quality than google did.

So I made my last attempt for this morning the question was

“Milky Way”

Now you get two answers from Wolfram Alpha

one is for the chocolate bar

and one for the galaxy

Answer of google

From google you get a mixture of everything

From the FAQś of Wolfram Alpha

Is Wolfram|Alpha a search engine?

No. It’s a computational knowledge engine: it generates output by doing computations from its own internal knowledge base, instead of searching the web and returning links.

It will take a while until people know how they will use Wolfram Alpha and what kind of information you will get from this engine. In long term view Wolfram Alpha is a powerful information tool and will have itś own place in the internet.

Today itś hard to make more test cause many people are trying the engine and you get many times

The next day Iĺl make a update about this article if I tried more on Wolfram Alpha.

The WEB Trend Map 2009. This japanese company publishes every year this map with the most important Internet domains and the most important Internet personalities. The nice idea was to map the domains and personalities on a map of the Tokyo subway system.
This year they mapped the 333 most important domains and the 111 most important personalities.

How to read the map:

The weight of a domain is defined over the height, the width and the position of a domain/station. The height describes the sucess of a domain. The width describes the stability of the company. The position on the subway map describes the group where the company/domain belongs to. The biggest crossings are the most important domains.

I started using the TAGME plugin a couple month ago. It was really fun to tag your friends and other people
with nice tags. You can decide that TAGME puts a tag cloud on your myspace page with the tags you get. For tagging they offer a kind of tag cloud where you can pick your tag for somebody or you can make a own one. See the example:

If you find somebody really special you can sent a gift to her/him. For the gifts you need to pay. For every tag you get money. When you will be tagged you get money too.

After a while TAGME offered the SUPERTAG. SUPERTAG means you pay money, sure not real money, to own the SUPERTAG of somebody. If somebody else want the SUPERTAG of this person he has to pay more than you did. If this happen you will earn 50% of the difference between buy and sell.
So you looking for the best looking girls and guys to buy them only for hoping they will be bought from somebody else for more money just to make money for you self. How you call this ?

I was long time thinking about to use the expression “virtual human trafficking” cause you normally are able to decide if you want to be part of a widget or not. Not at TAGME. Itś possible to be bought and sold at TAGME without knowing it.

If one of your friends is using TAGME he can buy your SUPERTAG from the friend list without sending you a request for using TAGME.

From this time your picture and nickname is in the game.

You can buy this person without knowing that this person is not using TAGME and you can sell this person again. The only place you can figure out that the person is not using TAGME is in your owner list. The person is marked as not active but you can still sell the person.

So lets come to the point “cancel your myspace membership”. Even if you delete your account at myspace you still will be at TAGME and your person will be virtual bought and sold on and on.

Here you can see somebody I owe in my owner list

but if you hit “view myspace profile” you will get a result like this

So here we have a member who has left myspace but still can be bought, sold and gave away.

So far we never talked about real money. You can play this TAGME game without real money but you can buy money if you want

or you can get extra money by using one of the programs below

It was then,if not before, itś clear that some people deal with humans indirect with real money.

So my advice : If you decide to not use TAGME anymore or you delete your account at myspace, delete all your data’s and your picture at TAGME or upload a faked picture instead.

The game is fun but the question is, if it is morally acceptable if you see that sometimes infants are traded possibly without their approval.

that is what Mr. Mathias Döpfner, head of the Axel Springer publishing empire, said today in an interview.
The whole article in German here www.welt.de

I don’t think that Internet makes journalism better. There was always good journalism and bad journalism. There will always be people how want to read the junk stuff and there are always people who want to read professional researched articles.

There is another question which is much more important. How will good journalism be payed in the future. Today you get the most short facts fast over the Internet with services like twitter and friendfeed. If you want to know more you can read the articles in online newspapers where you are not need to pay for. The profit over advertisement in newspapers is retrogressive.
Many people steal the professional news and post it to the Internet and make money with it. As I know there are no laws which stop this today.
Here in Germany we have an institution which is called GEMA. When ever you play music of GEMA members in public you need to pay to the GEMA.

From the web site of GEMA
“The object of the Foundation is to support needy composers, lyricists, music publishers and their relatives within the scope of tax regulations and to grant assistance to composers and lyricists by means of purpose-related training allowances, contributions to cover expenses related to their artistic activity and for musical productions, pilot competition projects and publications as well as by awarding prizes. ”

Do we need something similar for the journalists too and how should it work?.

What will happen if only a couple newspaper survive? We all know that newspapers can influence political, religios, economical and cultural movements.
So itś necessary to have many different views on facts and many different opinions to build a own opinion. From this point of view the risk of corruption can increase too. So we need the whole spectrum of newspapers in the future.

Dress your garbage can – It´s one of the greatest business ideas I have heard lately.
I now this has nothing to do with Web 2.0 , communication and social networks but I think this subject is worth to write about it.

So a couple of month a friend of my told me about this idea but I haven´t believe there is a market for it. But it´s true most people have their garbage cans in front of the house or in the garden. In Germany the garbage cans are black colored and all time you watch out of the windows you see the nasty garbage can in your wonderful lay out garden. So he started dress the cans. Here a few examples of covers :

Today he has his own german company and it´s named tonc. You can find the web site here www.tonc.de. The web site is only in German language but I think the site can be understood without speaking German.

As far as I know he has no partners in the United States, so if you have any questions leave him a message cause he speaks English.

It´s easy to mount the cover and the cover is washable. If you want your own motive on the cover you only need to send a digital picture to tonc and they will manufacture your cover.

Many people ask how they can get a high frequency of tweets for twitter.com and feeds for friendfeed.com. In the same time they don´t know how to promote the own blog. The easiest way is to combine all services. At least you can post everything full automatically to you facebook.com and myspace.com page. Here I´ll show one way how to do it. The advantage of this way is, that even if you have no time to write something by yourself you always post news on all pages.

OK first you need to setup accounts at twitter.com, friendfeed.com, twitterfeed.com.
Starting with twitterfeed you need to find blogs or web pages you really like by yourself and you think they are really interesting for other people and your friends. Don´t forget your own blog. Check that all this blogs and pages have RSS feeds or ATOM feeds. Put this pages and blogs to twitterfeed.com. Here an example of my twitterfeed account.

Sure as more as you have as higher the frequency of posts. Now every change on one of the pages or the blogs will be posted to twitter. Now go to your friendfeed account. Friendfeed is much better in combining accounts to friendfeed. Here a screenshot with which services you can connect over friendfeed.

You can try any of these applications if you have an account on one of this sites. Now you should setup the twitter application and the facebook application. After this is done all of your tweets from twitter will be posted to friendfeed and over friendfeed directly to facebook.

Here a view from the facebook wall.

Now we are coming to myspace. Would be nice if you could post directly from friendfeed to myspace too. But that’s not possible. Itś the same problem like I described in my article “Publish your blog on facebook and myspace”. Myspace has no really good working API for this cause myspace doesn’t accept Java Script. So we have to use the flash widget from twitter to post to myspace. Here how to setup.
Go to your twitter account and open the Twitter badges and widgets.

continue

use “Interactive Widget” and continue

copy the code from the window. Got to your myspace account to “edit profile”. Paste the code into the section “Interests” and save. Now you are finished. Should look like this :

Now you are ready to get traffic on your twitter and friendfeed account. But take care what you do because you shouldn’t use this to spam into the systems.

Just imagine that were ever you are, you lift the receiver or you take your mobile phone and every call world wide is for free.
From my point of view itś absolutely possible. In this article Iĺl explain how it could work, why no phone company will back this idea and how a none phone company can make good business with this idea.

For sure no phone company will like the idea “cost free phone calls” all over the world. So they will keep up selling classic telephony were you have flat rates or you have to pay per minutes until somebody else will provide cost free phone calls. But the question is how to make money with cost free phone calls. You need to build up the biggest phone book of the world. Cause there is something you always will need and that’s a company who will connect the calls. Okay for example take AOL. I think they have around 10 Mio customers. If AOL would present every customer a free phone and says only for the connect service everybody need to pay 3 $ a month they would get 30 Mio $ a month. OK now they would have a phone book with 10 Mio customers with more than 10 Mio numbers. After this AOL offers everybody this service cause the service is independent of any phone company or Internet provider and the classic calls are free of charge.
Let us make it clear from the start: the technique behind this can only be IP telephony. But whatś the difference between this idea and the IP telephony of today ? This business model itś not about IP telephony this business model based on the idea of the biggest phone book of the world and the connection service. If you use IP telephony today you still pay like in the classic telephony and itś not cost free. And itś stupid cause you pay for the data transfer and the phone calls and Voice over IP is only data transfer. So why paying for the calls ?
So for example if you are customer of the “German Telekom” you can have your broadband Internet connection there but you get the connection service from AOL so you don’t need to buy any telephone service from “German Telekom”.
And you can put more and more services on this idea. For example : if you would have a big company like Cisco for producing the phones you can make a setup like “where ever you login at a phone world wide you have the same setup like at home”. Your phone number memory will be the same. The keys on the phone will have the same function and so on.

How it works :
Itś a simple idea. Using dynamic dns (domain name service) like dyndns is doing it. Going a head with example for AOL, You setup a server for dynamic dns with the basic domain aol.com. Now you can generate sub domains like 0018976542.aol.com. If numbers don’t work you make a translation in the phone software. like a=1, b=2 .. etc so you can do something like abcdebca.aol.com.
Now you have a unique domain. If somebody using the service connecting to the Internet with the phone, the phone will get exactly this domain/number which belongs to this person. And if you put a good database behind it you can save the home phone configuration so it will be delivered to the phone a person is logging in. The user only need to use the phone number not the full domain name. The basic domain aol.com is configured in the phone and the phone adds the number to the basic domain to have the full domain name. So you have the perfect situation. You are using a regular phone not a computer, you have a normal phone number not a nickname and you have no costs only the 3 $ for the connection service.
The same is working with a mobile phone were you have Internet flat rate too. The only thing to do is developing the software.

By the way to get special numbers like 0000001 can be auctioned.

I have this idea since 6 years and I think itś still a good business idea. Leave me comments with your opinion
