Publish your blog on facebook and myspace

The question is” How to make your blog more visible in the net ?” One of the first steps I made to promote my blog was to publish my posts at facebook and myspace. There are many different ways to do this but only a view of this possibilities are really satisfactory.

The basic condition for publishing your blog is to have a RSS feed or a ATOM feed on the blog.

Facebook

You can find a couple Facebookapplications that imports RSS feeds to Facebook. For example RSS-connect, Simply RSS and Blog RSS Feed Reader. I tried all this readers but with all I had the same problem. With every application you get feeds from more than one blog but I only could publish this feeds in a box or a new tab on my profile. Looking like this :

rss-connect

This is a good way if you have many other blogs which you want to promote on your facebook page.
For me it was important to have my blogentries on the wall like all my other facebook comments. And additional I wanted to have my blogposts published with a headline and a teaser. So I found a simple way to do it. Go to the note app of facebook and than to my notes. On the right side you will find the point
“Notes Settings” like here

notes

Subscribe to your blog. And the blogposts will be published on your wall like this :

blogpost

That´s it for facebook ..

Myspace

Publishing your blog on myspace is not as easy as on facebook. On myspace there is no application to get your rss feed from your blog. So we have use a tricky way over a provider named Widgetbox.com.First you need to setup an account for yourself.
After login in go to “make a widget”

make_a_widget

Next page choose “blog/feed” and enter the url of your feed. Customize your widget. Save your widget.
After saving go to “My Widgetbox”–>”developed widgets”. You should see your widget now. Edit your widget. On the edit page go to “how other see it” and press “get widget”

widget_code

left beside “copy” press “myspace” and copy the code. Open your myspace account and go to “edit profile”.
Paste the code into your “about page”. If you want to see how it looks like got to my myspace page

Great Tips and clear instructions. VERY useful.
It really is interesting how powerful (and efficent/time-saving) setting up feeds between my various online “places” can be: e.g. Twitter updating, my blog, Facebook status, LinkedIn, and so-on.

    PS Tweeted this post!

    Nice post. Thanks.

This is a clear explanation for posting to a Facebook Profile page, but not a Facebook Page (used for brands, bands and more). So far I don’t see the same options in notes.

    Cool, works very elegent indeed.
The only thing I’m looking for is a way make sure the comments facebookers have find their way to my blog.
I’ve turned the comments on Notes off, hoping people will use the “Original Post” link…

*scratches head* okay.. Maybe I haven’t inhaled enough coffee but I’m having trouble processing things. I went to get a widget… because everywhere I googled the same site popped up. Only I assume I did something wrong because I couldn’t get it to list my feeds right. On my website I have different topics in 10 separate blogs (so far)…..which means I have 10 RSS feeds. I wanted them all posted on the Myspace pages I had for myself (IE- Author Page) and the columns (IE - website fan page). Anyone got one of those “…For Dummies” books I can borrow? because Im about to give up after 3 hours of trolling the net.
